Busy Busy Busy as a Bee In May!!!!!!!

This month, S.F.A.C.A has many things planned. On Friday, May 17th, we will be having our annual Spring Show. It is called "Off to See The Wizard". Seven classes will be participating in the spring show. Pre- K, 1-108, 2-107, 5-201, 5-208, 7-203 and 7-206. We also have Field Day on for grades 5-8 on Tuesday May 21st. Then we have May crowning on Wednesday May 29th.

This year at S.F.A.C.A we are holding our annul field day for grades 5-8 !!

We are running,playing, laughing, and jumping in the grace of God.

Get Ready - NYS State Exam !

On April 16th - April 18th and April 24th - April 26th, grades 4,6, and 8 will be taking the ELA and the MATH Common Core statewide Exams. We've been preparing from the beginning of the school year. Finally, the day has come. Our skills will be put to the test. Students should get a good night's sleep the night before testing, a well-balanced breakfast, get to school on time and bring two #2 sharpened pencils.

St. Joseph's day is celebrated on March 19th. St. Joseph was the step-father of Jesus and the husband of the Virgin Mary. We would like to wish a happy St. Joseph's Day to the sisters of St. Joseph. We would like to wish our very own sisters of St. Joseph who include Sr. Theresa, Sr. Barbara, and Sr. Marie.

LENTEN SEASON

Lent is a Solemn observance in the liturgical year. It last for six weeks leading up to Easter Sunday. It begins on Ash Wednesday and concludes on Easter Sunday. During Lent, many religions are known to fast. Jesus fasted in the desert for forty days. We should all give up something-- something we like. You can give up your electronics, or junk food. Also you can try to begin to be a better person.

Catholic Schools Week: A HUGE Success

From January 29th to February 2nd was Catholic Schools Week. We had fun. The entire week was filled with joy, laughter and excitement. On Monday was our liturgy to begin the week. On Tuesday was our academic bee. On Wednesday was sports day. On Thursday was Career day. And on Friday was buddy day. Here are our photos for the entire week.

Catholic Schools Week!!!/ Candy Sale

On January 27th to February 2nd, catholic schools will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week. Our theme for this year "Catholic Schools Raise The Standards." The theme supports the recent launch of the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools. Schools usually celebrate with masses and other activities for students and families.

The next thing that is happening at S.F.A.C.A is our World's Finest Candy Sale. It began on January 8th, and will conclude on January 30th. The many candies inside the box includes gummy bears and chocolate covered raisins. The flavors of chocolate include caramel, almond and W.F. crisp

OUR FUNDRAISER!!!!!

We are having a fundraiser for those affected by Hurricane Sandy, including Ms. Killian. We are asking each student to bring in hats, gloves, scarves, blankets, canned foods, water, toiletries, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and deodorant. Once we have a lot of supplies, we will give the items to local shelters and distributing centers. People out there lost almost everything so JOIN IN AND HELP!!!!!!!! This is due by the end of the week.

Walkathon!!!

On Friday, October 5^th, Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy will have their 10^th Annual Walkathon! The Walkathon takes place at Wingate Park's track field.

The students will walk, jog, or run in order to support SFACA. We would love to invite chaperones to help and encourage the kids. The more chaperones, the better and easier it is.

WE NEED SPONSORS!!!! Sponsors help our school. The more money we get the more supplies and fun we have. Please know that all your Walkathon money goes toward the school and not towards our teachers or principal. Please get any relative, friend, or neighbor to sponsor you (they don't have to live with you). All you have to do is call or talk to someone and they might give you a certain amount of money for each mile you run. If you run 1 mile it is still okay, because you have still donated to the school. THE MORE YOU RUN AND PARTICIPATE, THE MORE FUN WE HAVE!!

We don't only do this for the money. Our school, unlike many other schools, does this in order for exercise. This is one of the many workouts that you have fun doing. You do not only run, you can talk to friends, play on the playground, or walk and just enjoy the weather.

Welcome Back 2 school

Welcome back to school. As you may have noticed, we have changed our name to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy. This year, we will be learning and learning and having fun.

We welcome our wonderful new students and our teachers.

During the school year, we will have fundraisers that can be fun. Some of our fundraisers are World's Finest Chocolate, and Big Apple fundraising.

On October 5th., we will have our 10th Annual Walk-a-thon.
It is a fun time for all of us, students, teachers and parents.

We hope everyone will enjoy the school year at S.F.A.C.A
