St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy’s performances (Christmas and Spring Show) are theme and curriculum-based. The students present a showcase of talents and knowledge through the writing of original music, scriptwriting, and choreography. Students are also involved in the engineering part of the presentations, such as stage direction, lighting, sound equipment, and making props.
Performing Arts Residency Program
St. Francis of Assisi participates in The Performing Arts Residency Program. The program provides the academy with professionally trained Master’s-degree level theatre arts educators who follow a curriculum for theatre arts education in line with the NYS Blueprint for the Arts.
The curriculum is as follows:
- 4th Grade – Film Making
- 6th Grade – Play Writing and Producing
- 8th Grade – Shakespeare Study and Performance
